About Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is a city of about 350,000 located in southwestern Pennsylvania, and is situated where the Monongahala and Allegheny Rivers meet to form the Ohio.   It is made up of a hodge-podge of unique neighborhood "pockets" with diverse ethnic and architectural heritage, and a rich history and unusual array of cultural treasures

Pittsburgh remains a well-kept secret with the unique combination of bridges, steep hills, and broad rivers that makes it one of the most naturally scenic cities in the country.

Neighborhoods around Pittsburgh

Downtown Pittsburgh: Bounded by the Monongahela River and Allegheny River, the “Golden Triangle” or Central Business District is home to Pittsburgh Central Downtown Historic District, Point State Park, the Cultural District, Fifth & Forbes Corridor, Grant Street, and the Firstside Neighborhood. There are numerous skyscrapers which house many businesses, major hotels, parks and plazas, educational facilities, and residential areas.

Squirrel Hill: This walkable and bike friendly community in the East End of Pittsburgh, is bordered by Shadyside, Point Breeze, Greenfield, Regent Square, and Oakland. Conveniently located, a short drive to the Downtown area will only take about 10 minutes.

There is something for everyone in Squirrel Hill. Businesses include the Jewish Community Center, ethnic restaurants, chic boutiques and upscale shops, spas, ice cream parlors, taverns, delis, bakeries, movie theatres, and a bowling alley. There are also street festivals and a Farmer’s Market.

Frick Park, which borders Squirrel Hill on the East, offers tennis courts, baseball fields, the Blue Slide Park for the children, extensive trails for the hiking enthusiast, Frick Environmental Center, and a lawn bowling green.
